📢SWRCB issues warning of fraudulent emails:
The State Water Resources Control Board has been made aware of a threat actor sending fraudulent emails that spoof a Water Boards’ email address. These malicious emails are designed to lure recipients into clicking a link that redirects to a fake website impersonating the Water Boards’ official site, with the intent of harvesting your credentials.
To protect yourself:
- Carefully review the actual email address, not just the display name.
- Be cautious of messages that create a strong sense of urgency or pressure you to act immediately. (For example, “If no response is received within 24 hours, your license will be revoked .”)
- Do not click on links or open attachments in unexpected emails.
When in doubt, go directly to our official website by typing www.waterboards.ca.gov into your browser, rather than using links in an email.
Official Water Boards communications for Water Rights will come from “California Water Boards” with a sending address of public@public.govDelivery.com, or if it is coming from the CalWATRS system will come from "CalWATRS-NoReply" with a sending address of calwatrs-noreply@waterboards.ca.gov.
If you believe you have received a suspicious email claiming to be from Water Boards, please do not respond or click any embedded links. Instead, use a trusted method to visit our official website.
