Russian River Flood Control & Water Conservation Improvement District

A Joint Powers Authority (JPA) with a Board that includes a single member from Willow County Water, Calpella County Water, Redwood Valley County Water, Millview County Water, and most recently the Ukiah Valley Sanitation District.

This Joint Powers Authority serves as a unified voice to consult on water issues such as raising Coyote Dam, protecting local water rights, and the viability of the Potter Valley Project. This District is a member.

The Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCo) was created by State law in 1963 to provide assistance to local agencies in overseeing jurisdictional boundary changes. Each of the 58 counties in California has a LAFCo Commission.

The RCD works with communities to voluntarily conserve, protect, and restore natural resources in a landscape that supports agriculture, urban areas, and wild lands. They provide technical assistance, educational programs, monitoring and assessment services, and grant funding to help land managers meet their conservation goals.
